Bryan creates some of the mosaic components using polymer clays
like Premo, Fimo, and Sculpey Bake and Bend, which was used with
blue Pearl-X mica powders to make flexible strips. He uses
various kinds of glues, from cyanoacrylates, two part
epoxies, white craft glues (PVA). The glass and polymer tiles
were affixed using E-6000 glue, and the seed beads were glued in
pace using Rust-Oleum Varathane.
 The
beads, which come on threads in hanks, were taken one string at
a time, knotted and dipped into the Varathane, then placed very
carefully on the guitar. It is best to use Varathane that is not
as fresh--once it has dried out a little it makes a very good
adhesive for small pieces like glitter or seed beads.
Bryan uses Varathane Indoor Water based polyurethane
in many projects. The Varathane spray is also a favorite tool
for making sure that surfaces are both fully melded together and
shiny, and it is chemically compatible with polymer clay. |
